Clinics - Canoe Tripping

Parent Category: CRCO Info

Description

Canoe ClinicsHow you would run a set of rapids with a loaded canoe 100 kilometers away from help is quite different from how you run a set of rapids with an empty canoe close to help. Our other white water courses tend to focus on the latter. This course is designed with the former situation in mind. You will spend time in Class II and II+ rapids with loaded canoes. You will be taught: front and back ferrying. We will work on backing into eddies. We will spend time lining up and down rapids and the different techniques involved for each. This clinic is designed to teach you the skills needed to handle a challenging white water canoe trip.

Pre-requisite Skills

Since this is only a short school it is important to come with the required skills in order to allow the school to run smoothly. These are the prerequisites:

You are a good swimmer and are not afraid of water; you are in fairly good physical condition; have your basic white water or equivalent (Paddle Canada’s Introduction to White Water).
